Learn Photography

Throughout the year, I organise photography training courses. The idea for them came as a response to many requests for me to create a class that teaches camera settings and techniques.

Photography Course Types

Each course cuts through the jargon and is hands-on, with the opportunity to learn and practice during a walking tour of Loch Lomond.

The 2.5-hour walking tour is the most popular course, but I have also run courses for business owners and 1 to 1 sessions with aspiring pros.

Learn Photography at Loch Lomond

The courses are in Balmaha, Loch Lomond, a perfect location with many views and scenes to practice photographing. Photo opportunities include views over the islands, the pretty natural harbour, Tom Weir Statue and the West Highland Way path alongside Loch Lomond.

Course Content

Back to the requests to inspire the creation of the course, the one thing people wanted to understand (in plain English) was their camera settings. But unfortunately, we all know that the jargon and terminology used in the manuals that accompany new cameras aren’t very user-friendly.

The courses explain when and how to use different settings and demonstrate how easy it is to take control of a camera to take better photographs.

After around an hour or so, participants know how to use their camera in manual mode and are much more at ease taking photographs. The course is not just about dials and settings; it also covers creative compositions and techniques to develop photography skills.
