Photography at Cameron House Resort
Close to the gateway to Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park is Cameron House, a 5-star resort. Over the years, I’ve had the absolute pleasure of photographing guests staying here from all over the world — from America, England, Scotland, and beyond — at weddings, special family gatherings, anniversaries, and milestone birthdays. Today I want to share some examples and tell you a bit more about what makes this place so remarkable.
A Place Steeped in History and Scenic Grandeur
Cameron House has roots that stretch far deeper than many visitors realise. Situated on the banks of Loch Lomond — Scotland’s largest inland loch — this expansive estate dates back centuries, initially owned by noble Scottish families and later extensively developed in the 1800s as a majestic baronial mansion. Its rich history includes hosting figures such as Princess Margaret, Winston Churchill, and other dignitaries before it became the luxury resort we know today. The hotel often hosts celebrities, including former American President Barack Obama. The recently restored buildings sit in lovely grounds on the banks of Loch Lomond.
The Iconic Entrance
First impressions matter, and the grand entrance at Cameron House never fails to make one. Those iconic steps, dressed with a bold red carpet perfect for weddings or special events, are glorious in both wide-angle landscapes and more intimate portrait frames. It’s here that so many of my favourite sessions have begun.
A Warm Welcome — The People Who Make It Special
One of the things I love most about photographing at Cameron House isn’t just the scenery — it’s the people who make every session a joy. Over the years, I’ve photographed guests from all walks of life. Some have flown in from the United States, others have driven down from cities across England and Scotland, each bringing their own stories, laughter, and warmth. I’ve captured some intimate weddings and numerous family portrait sessions.
Many guests come for landmark birthdays or anniversaries, and it’s a privilege to document these once-in-a-lifetime moments. Some have shared how much it means to have images they’ll cherish for decades. I’ve received messages like, “Thank you for capturing our family in a way we’ll never forget,” or “These photos brought tears to our eyes — you’ve given us memories, not just pictures.” It’s feedback that reminds me why I do what I do.
Through it all, the staff at Cameron House have been fantastic — welcoming, genuinely helpful and always happy to assist when I’m arranging shots or finding the perfect light. Their support makes my job easier and my sessions smoother, and I’ve come to appreciate the teamwork between photographer and resort staff in creating beautiful photography experiences.
The Resort — Play, Relax, Explore
Cameron House isn’t just a beautiful hotel — it’s a complete destination with so much to experience.
There’s the championship golf course, rolling fairways, and scenic water views that provide another stunning backdrop for photos, especially at sunrise or sunset.
For those who love wellness and relaxation, the Cameron Spa offers thermal rooms, hydro facilities and a rooftop infinity pool overlooking the loch, all recently enhanced with a thoughtful refurbishment that blends modern luxury with spectacular views.
Water activities out on the loch, from boat rides to leisurely exploration of the surrounding landscapes, provide yet more opportunities for breathtaking images. Whether it’s candid moments on the marina, gentle family walks along the shore, or newlyweds stealing a quiet moment by the water’s edge, there is always something to photograph.
Inside the resort, you’ll find elegant dining — from fine Scottish fare at the Cameron Grill (my personal favourite) to light Italian cuisine at La Vista, each with views that I love capturing in lifestyle and travel photography.
Weddings, Celebrations and Family Gatherings
From intimate elopements to lavish weddings, Cameron House has hosted an array of celebrations. Its beautifully appointed spaces — both indoors and outdoors — are perfect for moments that deserve to be remembered forever. I’ve watched as nervous excitement turned to joyful vows, as grandparents laughed at stories only they understood, and as siblings gathered in groups for that perfect, sunlit family portrait.
One particular family gathering I’ll never forget was an extended clan who booked several lodges on the estate for a joint birthday celebration. Children ran through woodland paths, seniors shared whisky on terraces with loch views, and everyone gathered under the open sky as the light dappled through the trees. Moments like those — unposed and genuine — are always my favourite.
Stories I’ll Never Forget
I’ve met honeymooning guests, parents with newborns capturing first family portraits, and couples just starting new chapters in their lives. One couple from the States brought their whole extended family to Scotland — and we spent a late afternoon on the loch shore capturing every combination of relatives you can imagine. When they saw their photos, they told me, “These images will be the heart of our family’s story forever.”
Another time, a group celebrating a 50th wedding anniversary insisted on a traditional portrait on the grand steps. Their love and laughter — genuine and effortless — made that session one of my all-time favourites.
These are the stories that stay with me long after the session ends.
Why Choose a Local Photographer Who Knows the Area
As a photographer who knows Loch Lomond, this landscape, and this resort intimately, I can anticipate the best moments, light, and backdrops for your images. Whether you’re celebrating a wedding, reunion, or anniversary, or you want to capture your visit, I’ve learned how to blend location, atmosphere, and personality into images that truly reflect you.
Your Memories — Captured Forever
If you’re staying at Cameron House Resort, or anywhere around Loch Lomond, and you’re thinking about having professional photography to remember your time here — for your wedding, family portraits, anniversary, or holiday memories — I’d love to work with you. Choose someone who knows the area well, knows how to work with the light and the landscapes of Scotland, and someone who appreciates the authentic moments just as much as the posed ones.
